When reading mythological stories, rarely does the casual reader find information about the different sources of these stories, which can range from carvings and engravings to letters, manuscripts, travel's tales, songs, and much, much more. This article briefly explores different varieties of story styles, such as folklore, myth, legend, fable, and so on, with particular heed paid to definition of story types and how that relates to the mythological 'canon.'
