Many Dragon Slaying stories describe a brave knight slaying or fighting a dragon that is either earth-bound or sea-bound, so Elmore's depiction of an air attack is thrilling. The knight and horse seem already overpowered by the golden beast from above.
About the Artist:
Larry Elmore is an artists that has been creating fantasy artwork for over twenty years. He has worked at TSR, Inc., and he became known for his illustrations for Dungeons & Dragons and AD&D. His work can also be seen on the covers of the Dragonlance novels, among many other gaming designs, including work for computer games such as Ever Quest.
