About the Artwork:
The blending was done primary with tissue paper. The underlying sketch is pastel; charcoal pencils layered over the initial pastels for outline and shading purposes. Then another layer of pastel adds the primary pigmentation. It required three layers of fixative to keep it from smudging, which caused some darkening.
The concept for Dragon-Flies is based off a photograph of insect dragonflies flying over flowers. In the sketch phase, the dragonflies became Fairy Dragon in style.
